블록버스터 약물 '노스카나'

 

코로나19로 인한 마스크 착용이 장기화되면서 피부 트러블로 고민을 갖는 사람들이 증가하고 있다. 실제로 코로나19가 발생한 2019년 말 이후 여드름 환자가 꾸준히 늘고 있는 추세이다. 여드름은 방치하거나 비위생적인 방법으로 잘못 관리하면 2차 감염이 진행되어 피부조직이 손상되고, 흉터로 남을 수 있기 때문에 적절한 시기에 치료가 필요하다.

출시 당시 노스카나겔은 많은 논란이 있었다. 동일 효능의 스위스 연고인 Gorgonium을 식약처에서 허가 근거로 제시하였지만, 노스카나 ‘겔’과는 달리 제형이 '연고'라는 점과 임상 결과가 불충분하다는 점이 이를 뒷받침했다. 하지만 이에 대응하여 추가 자료를 제출함으로써 효능을 또 한 번 입증하였다.

 

노스카나겔은 Heparin, Allantoin, Dexpanthenol으로 구성되어 있다. Heparin과 Allantoin은 흉터 조직의 단단한 구조를 느슨하게 하고, 염증반응을 억제해 흉터 생성, 피부 착색을 최소화한다. Dexpanthenol은 피부 재생 효과가 있어 흉터 치료 효과를 보인다.

 

그렇다면 여드름 흉터 치료제를 언제 사용해야 가장 효과가 좋을까? 전문가들에 의하면 해당 성분은 부어오른 상처를 가라앉히는 효과가 있어 여드름을 짜낸 직후 도포 시 상처가 깊은 흉터로 진행되는 것을 막고 피부 재생을 도울 수 있다고 한다. 따라서 우리가 흔히 여드름 흉터로 생각하는 깊게 파인 흉터에는 큰 효과를 기대하기 어렵다. 이러한 이유로 노스카나겔을 보조적 용도로만 활용하고, 심한 흉터는 전문적인 치료를 필요로 한다는 의견도 있다.

 

노스카나겔의 성공 이후, 다른 제약사들도 여드름 흉터 치료제 시장에 뛰어들면서 새로운 치료제를 출시하고 있다. 치열한 경쟁 속에서 차세대 흉터 치료제로 어떤 제품이 탄생할지 많은 기대가 된다.

 

Blockbuster drug ‘Noscana’

Blockbuster drugs refer to cases where sales of more than 10 billion won have been achieved in the domestic pharmaceutical market, and global blockbuster, which attracts attention overseas, means 1 trillion won in annual sales products.

 

At launch, Noscanagel had a lot of controversy. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety presented Gorgonium, a Swiss ointment with the same efficacy, as a basis for approval, but unlike Noscana ‘gel’, the formulation was "ointment" and the lack of clinical results supported this. However, in response, additional data were submitted to prove its efficacy once again.

 

Noscana gel consists of Heparin, Allantoin, and Dexpanthenol. Heparin and Allantoin loosen the hard structure of scar tissue and suppress inflammatory reactions to produce scars and minimize skin coloring. Dexpanthenol has the effect of regenerating skin, showing the effect of scar treatment.

 

Then, when should I use acne scar treatments to best effectively? According to experts, the ingredient has the effect of calming swollen wounds, preventing the wound from progressing to deep scars when applied immediately after squeezing acne and helping skin regeneration. Therefore, it is difficult to expect a great effect on deep-cut scars that we commonly think of as acne scars. For this reason, there is an opinion that Noscana gel is used only for auxiliary purposes, and severe scars require professional treatment.

 

Other pharmaceutical companies are also launching acne scar treatments after Noscana Gel's success. It is expected what products will be created as the next-generation scar treatment amid fierce competition.
