Student Exchange Program with KNAPS Korea _Visiting Program

Danial Hamdan (MyPSA_Malaysia)

From 2nd of July till 15th of July, I was lucky enough to be a part of SEP with KNAPS. The reason why I chose Korea as my destination for the Exchange Program is honestly because I’m really into K-pop. You guys do not seem to really know how popular Hallyu Wave is which surprise me. The KNAPS kept getting amaze every time I understand what the Korean says. That is the side note. The real reason why I chose South Korea is because WHO recognized Korean healthcare system as the best in the world. I would like to know how the pharmacy system in South Korea and compare it with my country’s system. I’m glad I made the decision to visit South Korea.

If I have to choose for the best place we visited, it is either the HIRA(Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service) or the St. Mary Catholic Univ. Hospital. The reason is because I got to learn a lot about how the hospital system work in South Korean and understand the role of pharmacy in South Korea. During our visit to both of this institute, I had the chance to ask a lot of question too. I don’t know what else to talk about. Simply said that almost all the place we visited are a good experience for me because some of the place, even the Korean themselves could not have access to them. Like for instance, the NIS and the Nuclear Institute.

The highlight of this whole exchange program would be getting to learn Korean culture. I was glad that the KNAPS members are kind enough to join us whenever they can and showed a lot of what the locals do. That kind of experience, you just can’t buy it. But I kind of feel bad for the KNAPS member whenever we went on for drinking or at the restaurant for general. I appreciate that they tried to understand my religion. But in future, I would advise for the KNAPS member to give time for the Muslim participant to perform their prayer and also regarding the food. A lot of Muslim participant would love to join SEP in Korea but they really concern about this matter. For me, I’m used to travel in foreign country and adapt with their culture but I’m sort of a rare case. Other than that, KNAPS member are the best. If I have the chance to do it again, I would choose South Korea again. That is all from me. I’m not so good with sharing experience so feel free to ask me personally about anything. I’ll try to help as much as I can.

Sincerely,
